How to forcefully close stubborn programs in your system
sometimes when we try to close a program instead of it closing it freezes instead. this can be very frustrating especially when you want to shut down your system. as it will frozen program will only end up prolonging your system shut down. There are several reason why this happens. Below are the ones i think are the major reasons.
1. It might be a Software related issue
2. it might be a Driver related issue
A program freezing can also be caused by
outdated or corrupted drivers. Example, if an issue exists with your video adapter drivers, your computer could freeze while
watching a movie.
To remedy this, make sure you have the latest
drivers for all major devices in your computer (video, sound, modem etc).
3. A computer program may also seem
to hang when in fact it is simply processing very slowly. This can be caused by
too many programs running at once, not enough memory (RAM), or
memory
fragmentation, slow hardware access (especially to remote devices),
slow system APIs, etc. It can also be caused by hidden programs which were
installed surreptitiously, such as spyware. source.
All talks aside, whenever a program freezes and you are in a hurry to close it just follow the below steps:
Windows 7
Go to windows button and search for 'task manager'
when it comes up run it
Now look for the program (software) that has
refused to close in applications, if you don’t find it there, go to processes
(you are most likely to find it here) now to forcefully close this program
(software), right click on it and select END PROCESS.
If it doesnt end immediately continue repeating the
process untill it does. Thats all
Windows 8
For windows 8, press and hold cntrl+alt+delete. Select task manger Now look for the program that has
refused to close in applications, if you don’t find it there, go to processes.
now to forcefully close this program just right click on it and select END PROCESS.
