12 useful computer tips and tricks
Here
are some useful computer tips that can help increase your productivity
1. Cool
way to navigate through open programs. Next time you want to navigate to a different program
instead of minimizing it and then goin to the program you want, Just press and
hold your Windows + tab (windows + tab)
2. Changing your screen resolution. This tip is for those that
like watching movies whilst lying down on their bed.
Now instead of tilting your
computer whenever you are watching a movie on your bed (I used to do it)You can just Left click on any part
of your desktop and select the option screen
resolution (or you can just search for it in windows). Now Go to screen orientation and choose the way
you want your screen to appear and apply your settings. In the picture below I
chose the portrait mode. To revert your settings just repeat the same thing but
this time select landscape as your
screen orientation
3. Closing an open program/window. To close an open window (folder, program etc) in your computer
all you need do is press and hold alt +
f4.
4. Changing
your password. Windows > search
> user accounts. Now click on the
first result. On the left pane of your computer you will find options for
changing your password. All you need do is click on it, go down and choose the
password you want (make sure its a memorable one) note: choose a password hint
And then click ok. Congrats you computer is now passworded.
5. Taking a screenshot is as easy as trapping a
button. Whenever you see an image on your pc that you would like to screenshot
just press prnt sc, now open PAINT (you can search for it in windows) and paste it. Read more here
6. Using your favourite picture as wallpaper. Go to
the picture, left click on it and select the option use as wallpaper.
7. Customizing a
folder icon. Go to the folder you want to customize and left click on
it, go to properties, now select the option customize. Go down to change icon
and change to any picture of your choice. (customizing it won’t affect the
folder’s content).
8. Using
your onscreen keyboard. Handy when some of your keys aren’t working.
Go to windows, search for 'run', now input osk on the space provided and click ok.

Resizing an image. Goto the folder where the image is located, left click on
it, and then select the option 'edit'. now to resize the pic just select
the option 'resize', tick the option pixels, untick maintain aspect ratio now
reduce both the horizontal and vertical aspect of the picture. When you are done
click on ok and then on save (ctrl + s)

Forcefully close a program. Open your computer’s task mgr (input "task manager" in the search area
provided on windows or just press and hold ctrl
+ shift + esc), go to 'processes' left click on the program you want to end

Saving your computers battery. Whenever your laptop is not plugged, you can minimize the
rate at which your computer battery goes down by reducing your screen
brightness. To do this just search for brightness and reduce it.
12. minimize everything all at once. This
can come in handy when you have lots of stuffs running and you need to get to
your desktop. Instead of minimizing each open window, all you need do is press windows +D
13. Ctrl + alt + Del. This
can come in handy when you want to interrupt all processes including the one
slowing your system/. Pressing it brings out the options below
Lock this computer
Switch user
Log off
Change a password
Start task manager
You can do this to force a program to close especially when
you are not able to access task manager the normal way.
